PILLAGER – 1:1 sessions (x4 sessions)

Description

In these weekly individual private sessions for ALL AGES with ANY level of English, the student will focus on English oral and written communication skills [speaking, listening and reading], within the context of deciding what to do; build something amazing, explore, defend a structure, gather resources, etc. These activities will also help them develop emotional intelligence and soft skills such as leadership and team working, problem-solving, conflict resolution, adaptability, etc. Additionally these sessions are a good way for them to learn about about digital citizenship concepts such as critical thinking, information gathering, respecting each other and their work, and how to achieve a common goal.

These sessions can be done in two ways;

1. the student observes the game through a screen share while only the teacher plays. This maximises communication since the student must ask and make requests all the time for the teacher to do what they want.
2. the student joins in the game with their own Minecraft account and are able to play as well. If this is what you are looking for you will need:

• • A laptop or PC
  • A Bedrock or JAVA License installed ideally on a laptop/PC  (you can buy them here) or you can sign up for a PC Gamepass in the Microsoft Store to get trial membership that will allow you to try Minecraft and other games for $1.
  • A stable internet connection (>5Mbps)
  • A headset to facilitate listening and speaking.
  • (Optional) A second screen/device to be able to see the videoconference and listen to the teacher without losing the Minecraft screen.
