PILLAGER – 1:1 private one-off lesson

Description

In this one-off individual private session for ALL AGES with ANY level of English, the student will focus on English oral communication skills [speaking and listening], within the context of deciding what to do; build something amazing, explore, defend a structure, gather resources, etc. The activity will also help them develop emotional intelligence and soft skills such as leadership and team working, problem-solving, conflict resolution, adaptability, etc. Additionally this session is a good way for them to try the program where they learn about digital citizenship concepts such as critical thinking, information gathering, respecting each other and their work, and how to achieve a common goal.

This session is best used alongside the 1-to-1 Master CRAFTER or Master MINER weekly sessions to reinforce new language learnt and increase the amount of free practice. However, it can also be booked as a standalone session for students that prefer a more relaxed learning environment or need a flexible schedule.

These sessions can be done in two ways;

1. the student observers the game through a screen share while only the teacher plays. This maximises communication since the student must ask and make requests all the time for the teacher to do what they want.
2. the student joins in the game with their own Minecraft account and is able to play as well. If this is what you are looking for you will need:

• • A laptop or PC
  • A Minecraft for Windows 10 Edition or JAVA License installed on that laptop/PC  (you can buy them here) or you can sign up for a PC Gamepass in the Microsoft Store to get up to 3 months of access to Minecraft and other games for $1 so you can try it out.
  • A stable internet connection (>5Mbps)
  • A headset to facilitate listening and speaking.
  • (Optional) A second screen/device to be able to see the videoconference and listen to the other students and teacher without losing the Minecraft screen.
